Lonely Planet has chosen Copenhagen as the place to visit in 2019

The global traveling guide, Lonely Planet, just awarded Copenhagen first place in top destinations to visit in 2019. Copenhagen is number one followed by Shenzhen China, Novi Sad Serbia and Miami, USA.

It is a combination of the architecture of Copenhagen – new and old, the delicious Nordic cuisine ( made famous by restaurant Noma ) and new attractions like Copenhagen Hill ( rooftop ski slope) and the birth of more and more hip street food places like Reffen.

In the 3 minute video from Lonely Planet, an editor explains the factors that make Copenhagen the number 1 destination in the world to visit in 2019.

The increase of tourists in Copenhagen is something that has been very noticeable the last couple of years – something the hotel industry has been profiting from. The tourists´ total consumption of DKK 108,1 billion creates growth and employment in many industries.

According to VisitDenmark, Danish and foreign tourists had 52,4 million stays in Denmark in 2017 – 1,8% more than the year before and a new record. Denmark is also the winner when it comes to its share of tourists in the Nordic region and so 45% of the nights spent by tourists in the Nordic region was spent in Denmark – 30% of which was in hotels.

The tourism in Denmark accounts for 3,7% of the total Danish export, according to VisitDenmark.
