Wizz Air to launch route to Frankfurt International Airport
Hungarian low-cost carrier Wizz Air said on Tuesday it plans to launch a route from Germany’s Frankfurt International Airport to Bulgaria’s capital Sofia starting May 22.
The new service will be operated on a daily basis, Wizz Air said in a statement.
Wizz Air already operates flights connecting Sofia and Frankfurt Hahn airports.
« We are very happy to welcome Wizz Air, here at Frankfurt Airport with flights beginning in May 2017. The daily connection to the Bulgarian capital Sofia offers another excellent addition to the route network at Frankfurt Airport. The decision by Wizz Air also underscores the growing importance of Frankfurt for the low-cost market., » Winfried Hartmann, Fraport AG’s senior vice president of sales and customer service, said in the statement.
Fraport is the operator of Frankfurt International Airport. The company also operates the Bulgarian coastal airports in Varna and Burgas, as well as the airport in Slovenia’s capital Ljubljana.
Wizz Air also said it will launch a daily flight from Frankfurt International Airport to Hungary’s capital Budapest, starting on December 15.
By adding Frankfurt International Airport to its growing route network, Wizz Air will connect 137 destinations across 40 countries.
